Best outdoor goods store around. Great upscale selection, membership based customer base, amazing return policy, sells used gear once a month, has classes and meetings, and is active in the community. One of my favorite companies around truthfully.
It's a good place for hiking, camping, biking, and outdoor gear and equipment. Things can sometimes be pricey and the variety of equipment can be limited to one or two of a particular style but at least it is offered. Joining the co-op is a nice incentive (one time $20 fee) for additional savings and discounts.
Of the two REI's in Pittsburgh, this one is the most accessible for those coming from the south. It is just a few minutes off of the interstate in a large shopping center. Though it is on the smaller side, it is well stocked and has always had everything I'm looking for. The staff is always friendly and on hand when you need assistance. I never have to look far or long to find an employee. In fact, most of the time, they come to me to ask if I need any help. The shoe department staff is especially helpful and quite knowledgeable. They have a great return policy, as well. You have a full year to return your purchase, no matter what condition it is in.
Great place but had a lot of display only boots that were not for sale or had 1 size left on many and not getting more in.
Awesome staff! Very knowledgeable and i swear... if you took your gear in they would probably teach you how to pack a back pack on the spot! (Please don't do that... lol) but they are that awesome!
